A walkthrough of every screen — and what it does for you.
Hora is the place where a change in your business becomes tasks, documents and deadlines. Here is the interface, screen by screen, with the real demo company loaded.
The same assumptions behind every number on this site.
Every "admin time avoided" figure is an estimate: per-requirement minutes for the manual path, minus the review Hora still needs from you. These are workflow assumptions rather than timed studies; time studies — same task, same inputs, by hand and in Hora — are next, and measured medians will replace these figures with a "based on N workflows" label.
| Per requirement | By hand (minutes) | With Hora (minutes) | Where the number comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Research what applies and why | 20 | 0 — automatic | Reading two or three agency pages and one explainer to confirm the requirement applies |
| Find the agency and the current form | 10 | 0 — automatic | Locating the portal, the current form version and its instructions |
| Fill in the form (when one is required) | 15 | 2 — review the pre-filled draft | Typing company, people and account details by hand vs. checking a pre-filled draft |
| Check the deadline (when one exists) | 8 | 0 — automatic | Finding the due-date rule and computing it for your dates |
| Track it: reminders, receipts, history | 12 | 0 — automatic | Calendar entries, follow-ups, filing the confirmation somewhere you can find it |
| Review the task itself | — | 3 | Reading the task, the reason and the source before you act |
| Submit on the agency portal | you | you | Not counted on either side — it stays yours until direct filing ships |
A hire is one-time work. A quarterly return comes back. We never add them into one number.
| Kind | Examples | How it is counted |
|---|---|---|
| One-time | New hire (I-9, W-4, new-hire report), new location, foreign registration, address or owner change, a license application | Counted once, when the change happens. Shown as "one-time admin avoided". Never annualized. |
| Recurring | Form 941 (quarterly), 940 / W-2 / 1099 (annual), state annual reports and franchise tax, license renewals, workplace notices, sales-tax filings | Annualized: quarterly items ×4, annual items ×1. This is the only figure we call "recurring admin avoided / year" — and the only one that speaks to a subscription. |
| Your review and submission | Reading each task, checking a pre-filled draft, submitting on the agency portal | Review is subtracted from both kinds. Submission remains yours and is not counted on either side. |
A California new hire, rule by rule: source → rule → time assumption → task.
The same scenario as the home page, computed live by the rules engine. Each row is one obligation; the minutes are the per-requirement assumptions above, adjusted for complexity.
Every time figure in Hora is computed this way: each obligation contributes research, forms, deadline and tracking minutes; the review stays yours; the difference is time returned.

Submitting on the agency portal stays with you and is not counted on either side. All figures are estimates, not measurements.
Adjusted for complexity. Research time is multiplied by 1.15 for state rules and 1.3 for local rules (more sources, less standardized pages), and by 1.5 for items Hora marks "needs review", where the answer depends on facts. Federal items use the base minutes. The base minutes are our working assumptions for a first-time task done by an owner without a template; they are deliberately conservative and will be replaced by measured medians.
Yearly figures count quarterly items four times. Time counts as "avoided" because Hora does the step instead of you — submitting is not counted on either side. See the estimate for your business →
One history: what changed, what it triggered, what got done.
After onboarding the account isn't empty — it's a map. A month later it's a record. This is Rivera Electric's, with dates computed from today.
Four steps from a blank account to a working compliance map.
Pick a change. Watch the obligations appear.
What changed in your business?
Describe it the way you'd tell a colleague. Hora reads the change and rebuilds your obligation list.
Check items off to see tracking. Illustrative only — not legal advice. Every document Hora prepares is in English, the language U.S. agencies accept.
